Morchella disparilis (Pezizales) – first record for the Sicily and first morphological, molecular and ecological data for Italy

Abstract: Morchella disparilis Loizides & P.-A. Moreau is a spring species that was first described in 2016 on samples collected in Cyprus. It is an easy-to-identify species with a Mediterranean range. The specific epithet, which means “different” or “dissimilar”, emphasizes the sulcus that characterizes this species of the section Distantes Boud. This work aims to confirm the first findings in Sicily and provide the first morphological, molecular and ecological data for the Italian territory.
