Ascomycete.org will soon publish the first volume of the series Pezizomycetes of Europe. Three volumes are planned. This first volume will be devoted to the families Pezizaceae, Ascobolaceae and Ascodesmidaceae, with about 180 described and illustrated species, in 500 pages. The book will contain an introduction, a chapter devoted to the morphological study of Pezizomycetes, a description of each family accompanied by a key to the genera, followed by a presentation of each genus with a key to the species, and finally a presentation of the species themselves. A bibliography and an index will complete the volume. Distribution maps will be available on our web site.
The book will be published in five different languages: French, English, German, Spanish and Italian. It is due to be published in December 2026.
This project is edited by Nicolas Van Vooren, specialised in the study of Pezizales for over twenty years, supported by European specialists, Matteo Carbone, Miguel Ángel Ribes and Björn Wergen.
