Basionym Plectania carranzae Calonge & M. Mata, Mycotaxon, 81: 238 (2002).
Diagnosis Ascomata 5-20 mm diam. gregaria, atra, cyathiforme-discoidea, stipitata. Asci octospori, cylindracei, 170-200 × 10-14 µm, monoseriati. Paraphyses luteae, septatae, curvatae ad apicis, raro ramosae, 3-4 µm diam. Ascosporae sphaericae, laeviae, 11-13 µm diam. Excipulum medulare textura intricata, cum hyphae hyalinae, 3-4 µm diam. Excipulum corticale textura globulosa ex cellulis nigris compositum, 8-10 µm diam, cum tomentum hyphae curvatae usque 200 µm longae et cum hyphae rectae usque 4000 µm longae ad stipitae tomentum compositum et subiculum supra superficies substratae.
