Diagnosis Ascomata solitaria aut gregaria, globosa usque subglobosa, subterranea usque erumpens; Gleba solida usque soliduscula, hymenium et excipulum implexa formantia superficiem marmoratam. Peridium stratis tribus: stratum externum tomentum albidum; excipulum hepaticum usque ochraceum, cum pustulis aut verrucis, constatus ex subglobosis usque isodiametris usque irregularibus cellis; hypothecium concolorum sed cum intermiscent elementis hyphis et cum cellis irregularibus. Hymenium notabile invenitur intra labyrintyhiformes canales. Paraphyses longiores ascis, fundunt figuare epithecium. Sporae 14–16.5 (–17) × (9.5–) 10–12 µm, ellipsoidae, hyalinae, laevigatae.
