Diagnosis Apothecia variabilia, 300–600 μm longa et 200–600 μm lata, primo subdoliiformia, demum disco plano, sine margine protrudenti, vix colorata vel flavida. Excipulum in parte inferiore textura epidermoidea ad textura globulosa, cellulae usque ad 35 μm longae, in parte superiore textura porrecta, cellulae 4–8 μm latae, cyanophilae. Paraphyses filiformes, sine ramificationibus, tenui-tunicatae, apicaliter saepe dilatatae, 5–8 μm latae. Asci 150–230 × 15–19 μm, unitunicati, cylindrici, plerumque octo-spori. Ascosporae 14–17 × 10–13 μm, subglobosae ad ovoideae, incoloratae, una gutta magna praeditae, episporio sutiliter aspero, cyanophilo, in ascis plerumque uni-seriatae. Hyphae 3–5 μm latae, incoloratae, appressoria et haustoria formantes. Appressoria 25–50 μm longa, 10–27 μm alta et 21–26 μm lata, uni- vel biseptata. Haustoria appressoriis exorientia, 2–3 μm lata, intra cellulas singulas hospitis crescentia.
Habitat parasitice inter filamenta viva protonematismusci xylophili Rhizomnium punctatum in locis humidis.
