Neogyromitra caroliniana (Bosc) S. Imai, Bot. mag. (Tokyo), 46: 174 (1932).

Basionym Morchella caroliniana Bosc, Mag. Gesells. Naturforch. Freunde Berlin, 5: 86 (1811).

Diagnosis M. à stipe épais, sillonné, chapeau presque rond, sillonné de rides plissées, ondulées, très profondes et irrégulières.
Cette espèce diffère de la Morille esculente par sa tige beaucoup plus courte et plus épaisse, par son chapeau plus gros, plus rond, moins foncé en couleur, offrant plusieurs cavités irrégulières dans son intérieur. Elle diffère également de la Morille crespue figurée dans Micheli pl. 84. Elle se rencontre fréquemment dans les bois de la haute Caroline mais non dans ceux de la basse. Sa chair se mange quoi qu''elle n''ait ni odeur ni saveur.
