Basionym Morchella esculenta f. dunensis Castañera, J.L. Alonso & G. Moreno, Yesca, 8: 27 (1996).

Diagnosis Suo habitat arenario, radicanti pede, a tipo differt. Holotypus: in Hispania, in firmis littoralibus arenae tumulis – Liencres (in Cantabria) – cum Ammophila arenaria Link, leg. V. Castañera, 19-IV-1994, AH 18335, isotypus VC1.
