Diagnosis 55. Hydnocystis compacta, sp. nov. Plate XLIII, Figs. 11a-11c.
Minute, reddish brown, subrotund, cavernous without exterior opening, minutely and closely papillose; gleba compact, white; asci cylindrical, obtuse, 175 µ in length, 8-spored; spores globose, hyaline and unequally papillose, 25 µ in diam.
Type, No. 98, Harkness Coll. Under Libocedrus, Alta, Placer County, Calif., May.
