Diagnosis Gen. verrucosa. — Tab. II, fig. VII.
Polymorpha; peridio duro, extus intusque verrucoso-nigro, verrucis minutis, adpressis, regularibus, fibrillis radicantibus minutissimis, coacervatis. Sporidia sphaerica. Odor fortis, nauseosus. Fungus magnitudine pisi vel nucis avellanae, raro majori. Uterus cavus, tot veluti tuberula, e parietibus intrusi peridii formata, continens, ore subconniventi. Caro alba, compacta, venis pallidis in tuberulorum centro notata; radix fusca. Exsiccatus summopere contrahitur et diu persistit.
Vulgo Cappello di Prete.
Solitarie vivit in locis incultis, argillosis planitiei collium et montium transpadanorum: vere, aestate et autumno. Etiam in quercetis et castanetis agri ticinensis et mediolanensis sat communis.
