Diagnosis Large brownish ascomata, highly lobed, surface covered with minute irregular warts, intense pleasing odor that is similar to yogurt, ascospores not exceeding 32 μm, ornamented with scattered wide hemisphaerical warts measuring 1.5–4 × 2.5–7.8 μm. Strictly associated with Pinus spp. In Mediterranean habitats.
