Diagnosis Hypogeous blackish ascomata covered with irregular warts, with an abundant basal tuft of hyphae, a single inner chamber lacking wall projections lined with a brownish epithecium. Ascospores larger than 32 μm without ornamentation, which consists of prominent truncated or rounded warts approximately 4 μm in height. It is apparently a strict symbiotic associate of Fagus sylvatica.
