Diagnosis T. major, congestus, late effusus, tomento dense compexo crasso subiculari flavicanti insidens.
Convenit quidem cum praecedente forma ac colore, in universum etiam historia, cui et in hac specie per omnia vitae stadia indagandae prospero eventu operam navavimus : at specie tamen differt 1, ac praeprimis, subiculo modo indicato ; 2, statura ultra duplum majore (diametro 2 lineas in perfectioribus aequante , imo nonnumquam excedente); 3, margine post fructificationem multo luculentius ac constantius membrana alba lacera lacinulato; 4, loco et 5, tempore natali. Subiculum e filamentis longis firmiusculis dilute flavis arcte intertextis satis crasse ac solide compexum , demum tamen tenuius atque hinc inde obliteratum, subterstratum est catervae fungorum longe lateque , ad 4 — 6 uncias et ultra, effusae : junioribus semi-immersis, adultis nudis, nec nisi fibrillis sparsis pro annexu instructis. Ad reliquam porro speciei historiam post descriptionem Todeanam quae addamus, vix habemus : verum illud silentio non praetereundum est, nos ne in hac quidem specie, quantumvis diligentissime observata, vesiculam salientem umquam vidisse. Haec potius ad id firmitatis roborisve elastici, quod vasculo T. stercorei tribuit inventor, neutiquam pertingere videtur. Late nimirum fructificans ab initio observandus vel nullatenus consolidatur, sed fluxilis persistens membranulae tandem vertice rupto circumquaque redundat; vel eousque tantum inspissatur, ut apice fisso cirrhuli fusiformis in speciem profluat. Nos saltem hujusmodi cirrhulos, resumto post nocturnam quietem examine, juxta ora semipatula , per effluxum procul dubio, recubantes conspeximus corumdem speciminum, quae vespera praecedente vasculo suo semi-emerso coronate animadverteramus. Prius nobis spectaculum greges autumnales, posterius vernales praebuere. — Praepulchra ceterum species ima sylvarum opacarum amat penetralia, ubi terrae nudae vel muscis, foliis, stipitibus putridis humi jacentibus (interdum tota obtecta) instrata passim occurrit (Moholzer Haide). Autumno seriore primoque vere.
