Abstract: Based on morphological and molecular phylogenetic analyses, a new species of Helvella L. found in the central Apennines (Italy, Umbria) is described. Detailed macro- and micromorphological characters and ecology are provided, together with colour photographs of fresh specimens and microscopic features. Finally, its phylogenetic position is discussed.
