Abstract: A new species of Marcelleina with warty ascospores, found in the Santa Cruz County (California, USA), is described. The species was found with the presence of Sequoia sempervirens. We illustrate it with photographs in habitat, micrographs of diagnostic characters and iconographic tables. A phylogenetic tree is also provided.
The genus Marcelleina was established by Joop van Brummelen in his monograph dedicated to the genera Ascobolus Pers. ex J.F. Gmel. and Saccobolus Boud. (Brummelen, 1967).
