Basionym Tuber cumberlandense Sow, L. Martin & Lemmond, Mycologia, 116 (6): 953 (2024).
Diagnosis Characteristics that differentiate T. cumberlandense from other species in the Rufum clade are a yellow-cream to buff, highly rugose peridium that does not expose the gleba, spores with short coniform spines, and a pungent-savory brassicaceous or onion-like aroma.
