Lectotypus

Gyromitra esculenta (Pers.) Fr., Summa Veg. Scand., 2: 346 (1849).

Basionym Helvella esculenta Pers., Comment. fung. Bav.: 64 (1800).

Diagnosis H. pileo subrotundo spadiceo, superficie rugosa-crispa subgyrosa. Hab. locis montosis vere ad terram.
Obs. Esculenta est, hancque ob causam una cum Phallo esculento Lin. ad cibum ex gr. in Hercynia colligitur. Transitum ad Morchellas facit, cum pileus obsolete reticulato-lacunosus sit. A plerisque pro eadem cum antecedente specie habita est, saltem auctores has Schaefferi tubulas ad priorem quoque retulerunt.
