Diagnosis Octosporella microtricha differs from all other congeneric species by ellipsoidal, up to 300 μm long ascomata densely covered by short, extremely thick-walled setae; asci with 7 or 8 (or fewer) ascospores; ascospores narrowly ellipsoidal to fusoid, (in CB) 24 –33 × 9.5 –12 μm large with cap-like wall thickenings at the ends; colonizing Frullania polysticta.
