AB  - Three new species of Hydropisphaera are described and illustrated, based on material collected in Europe and French Guiana. The three species were cultured and cultures were sequenced. Based on morphological and phylogenetic comparison with the known Hydropisphaera species, we propose H. cirsii, H. pseudoarenula and H. saulensis as new species. An updated dichotomous key to the worldwide known species of Hydropisphaera is proposed
