The status of Peziza spongiosa is discussed. In addition, molecular results support the independence of P. sphagnophila in the sense of European authors. However, the original diagnosis of the latter does not fit the modern concept of this species, and so P. episphagnum is proposed as a substitute for the species growing in bogs on Sphagnum spp. Finally, the new species P. affinis and P. tasmanica are proposed to accomodate material from New Zealand and Tasmania, respectively. A review on the remaining known species of the genus is also discussed ID - AscoOrg-ID95 DB - Ascomycete.org https://ascomycete.org ER -
