Diagnosis Octospora bicarpa differs from other Octospora species by having small, orange apothecia that arise in the upper green shoot regions of the moss Lewinskya speciosa, 8-spored asci, ellipsoidal, 16–19 × 10–12 μm large ascospores, and colourless, reduced conidiomata that consist of conidial layers that form globose monoblastic ameroconidia.
