Abstract: A new non-coprophilous species of the genus Cheilymenia is described from the Bregava River in the southern Mediterranean region of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Detailed ecological, morphological, biogeographical and phylogenetic characteristics of this intriguing taxon are presented. Comparisons with other similar species and genera establish its unique phylogenetic position, confirming its status as a distinct species.
